Adware Removal Software: Reclaim Your PC
Adware is defined as any software that automatically plays advertisements, and or downloads advertisements to a computer once the software is installed or during use of an application. Some adware is also spyware and can be privacy invasive. Oftentimes adware is installed inadvertently and may go unnoticed for some time or are apparent immediately. Adware’s goal is to place ads in front of a potential buyer with the anticpation of making a sale.
Not all adware is malicious or surreptitiously installed. Some adware removal software packages are part and parcel of applications that the user installs on their PC which may have a free version which serves up advertisements in lieu of a subscription fee. An adware application that is quite popular is WeatherBug which is a weather monitor for your computer that can be downloaded for free. Weatherbug customers can get rid of advertisements by setting up and paying for an annual subscription. Programs like these provide a wiw-win for the person downloading it onto their PC and the company providing the software as well as the advertisers. Other adware applications are not nearly as genteel. Many have been classified as Malware due to the modes used to entice people to put them on their computers and the way they run when installed.
Another approach that is used is to bundle the adware program with a desirable application and then it is automatically installed with the program. These programs have been known to monitor web browsing habits reporting these back to the company that produced them. Another tack that they use is to substitute their own ads thereby replacing legitimate ads on websites with their own.
Other adware removal software or spyware programs have can be looked at as scareware. If you have ever seen ads claiming your PC is infected with viruses etc. and claim that purchasing their program will protect them from these so called issues. In many cases this breed software will set itself up on the a PC without the consent of the consumer with the chief intention being to alarm people and trick them into paying for their product even though many times there is not an actual problem.
